Warm Hospitality (heart & food!) in Setouchi, West Japan

Visited Kagawa Pref. in West Japan!

It’s the season of Art Setouchi Exiibition right now and it will be held until early September.

During the trip, I met a local lady who asked me to stop and have a cup of tea at the local community place in Shodoshima Island.

Local island ladies served cold green tea and some food there… Welcoming people with the hospitality with the style is their culture called ‘Osettai’.

I enjoyed chatting with them for a whole and learn some recipe 😉  The service is only for the exhibition period but I am sure you all may have opportunities to talk with friendly people there even after the period!

When you have chance to be in west Japan, you may find something different from other part of Japan.

The place is called Umaki Camp, and it’s one of my favorite places in the world. Glad you liked it.

Thanks, David! It’s one of your favorite places in world ? I know what you mean cos ladies there were really awesome and welcomed people just like their relative or friends! It’s a part of Art Setouchi Project but it’s actually beyond the art. I was moved indeed.
