Found this little Japanese sweets at the basement of Daimaru department store in Shijo Karasuma area in Kyoto.
The chestnut is well cooked (not too sweet) and could enjoy the natural flavor of chestnut. The base part is the red bean and the balance of the sweetness was perfect for me. The texture is almost like Yokan(a bar of sweet jellied red bean paste) but not as hard.
Persimmon and Chesnut are very common ingredients for Japanese sweets in this season … but this is one of my favorite among the sweets I discovered in Kyoto this time!
The name of the brand is Sentaro and they also sell other types of Japanese sweets such as steamed bean-jam bun.
