I found lovely Kintoki Carrot yesterday and it’s amazingly straight! Kintoki Carrot is used for Japanese dish especially new year dish.
The color is not orange …almost red and taste is more sweeter than normal one . Red/white colors are symbolic color combination for Japanese New Year so probably it’s popular for the season and occasion.
I personally think I don’t care about the shape so much if it’s safe and tastes good cos I cut them anyway while cooking. But didn’t see a imperfect look Kintoki Carrot in the box at the market yesterday and checked website of agricultural association or something and found it’s grown in the very soft soil … that’s why it’s grown like straight as pic. Very fun to learn the story behind each ingredients!
