Happy Chinese New Year! I tried to make this Singapore style traditional dish for Chinese New Year using Japanese ingredients this year.
Used fresh local Red Sea Bream and Japanese Flounder sashimi even though many Singaporean use salmon. Also cut Radish, carrot and cucumber very finely then add crushed peanut, sesame seed, black pepper, five spices, oil, homemade plum sauce(made non sweet version, umeboshi, vinegar, mirin sweet wine) olive oil, local lemon, fried wonton etc… then mix well with family and friends using chopsticks. People believe the dish will bring more luck and fortune while mixing!
